my abstract proprosal will be on gender studies, under the "how women are being potrayed in the media". I will explain on how this topic is highly involved in the media.
ReplyDeleteMore than anything Monty, this paper should be a type of personal response from you. The subject that you choose is probably a book lengths of material, probably too broad for such a short paper. I would suggest that you be more specific and make a clear and concise argument in your paper. How do you view the portrayal of women in the media?

ReplyDeleteLucky, this is also a broad subject. I would suggest that you specify what media outlet you will be referring to in your paper. It should also be a type of personal response since the subject is vast, probably a book lengths of material to be covered.

ReplyDeleteMy paper will focus more on a couple of roles both genders can do equally, couple roles each gender those better than the other one, and the true motivation for the gender actions .The subject of my essay for gender studies will be the comparison of the male and female roles in general. I expect to get examples and explain how some of the roles could be done by both sexes because there are still a lot of people in the world that think the male and female have their own specific roles. I will take some of the most common discus roles and prove that both genders can do it equally like protecting and providing for family. Also, find out if there are certain roles one gender can do way better than the other one. And, find roles that need both genders in order to work. I would like to discover what’s really behind it all, what makes people act, and think a certain way (race, culture, family tradition, etc.).

ReplyDeleteFor my proposal i would like to talk about bulling it also deals with gender studies. Due to the gender of the person, the color of ones skin, and the accent of a "diffrent" individual. Bulling is happening every 10 seconds and is a huge deal, i would love to look into this topic and make a change. I feel that not enough is beeing done. Every person is diffrent in there own way and for some one to call them out on there diffrences is not acceptable.I would like to hear about peoples experiances from getting bullied to viewing some one get bullied.
Would you be referring to the sexual orientation of a person and bullying? I'm interested to know how you will be incorporating gender and bullying; that's very interesting. I'm looking forward to reading your paper Erika.

ReplyDeleteSeveral students are writing about this subject. I like it but it might be a very broad subject. Generally when it's such a broad subject, we start forming biases in our papers. I want you to avoid doing this Ariana. Be specific, what media outlet would you be referring to? TV, Film, Social Media, News, ??

ReplyDeleteWomen abuse is very common with couples, and many women won't speak up. This has to due with gender studies because many males are, or believe they are the primary authority . They occupied the roles of political leadership, moral authority, control of property, and hold the authority over women and children. Mothers protect their kids from pain, they will stay with their husband no matter what, to not see the kids suffer. I have my own experiences about this topic, I know how it feels, and why women won't speak. How males control women even when they don't have nothing to hide...

DeleteMy abstract proposal will focus on societies contradiction when valuing a Woman's role. I will briefly include examples of the roles of woman, the majority of societies impression of woman, and discuss the equality of men and woman. Woman are generally undermined and I would like to showcase the societies gender discrimination of abilities a woman actually obtains and can pursue.
ReplyDeleteI like the subject very much Jessie. My only suggesting would be to be specific about the society you wish to talk about. The paper is only two pages long and I'm afraid that won't be enough to talk about other distinct societies. Stick to what you know and be specific. Other than that, I like how you use "contradictions in values" when evaluating the roles of women. Sounds like an awesome title already!
